Diego Velazquez
Spanish Baroque Era Painter, 1599-1660
Spanish painter. He was one of the most important European artists of the 17th century, spending his career from 1623 in the service of Philip IV of Spain. His early canvases comprised bodegones and religious paintings, but as a court artist he was largely occupied in executing portraits, while also producing some historical, mythological and further religious works. His painting was deeply affected by the work of Rubens and by Venetian artists, especially Titian, as well as by the experience of two trips (1629-31 and 1649-51) to Italy. Under these joint influences he developed a uniquely personal style characterized by very loose, expressive brushwork. Although he had no immediate followers, he was greatly admired by such later painters as Goya and Manet Related Paintings of Diego Velazquez :. | Gaspar de Guzman,Count-Duke of Olivares,on Horseback | Saint Anthony Abbot Saint Paul the Hermit | Mars Resting | Portrait of Philip IV in Armour | Venus at her Mirror (mk08) | Related Artists: Anders Montan(1845 -1917 ) - Painter
Johan stephan Von Calocker Called Giovanni CalcarCalcar(near Cleves)1499-Naples 1546 Andrea Locatelli was an Italian painter of landscapes (vedute). 1695-1741
Born in Rome, he was the son and pupil of the painter Piero Locatelli, who had studied with the Florentine Ciro Ferri. He next apprenticed under Paolo Anesi, although his style and thematic is akin to that of Claude Lorrain, and depicts small mythologic figures although within a wild environment more similar to those of Salvator Rosa. He is also known as Andrea Lucatelli. Andrea excelled in painting vedute in a style reminiscent of Jan Frans van Bloemen, one of the Bamboccianti. One of his pupils was Joseph Vernet.
